Donald Northfelt, M.D. (HEMO ’02), Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Mayo Clinic in Arizona, is the new Arizona site director for the Mayo Clinic Office of Health Disparities Research (OHDR) Steering Committee. Dr. Northfelt succeeds Scott Leischow, Ph.D. (HSR ’12, HEMO ’12), in this role.

Dr. Northfelt conducts extensive research and clinical trials in breast cancer, much of it involving research outreach to Arizona’s Native American and Hispanic populations. His experience working with and recruiting minority populations aligns closely with OHDR’s two-prong mission of furthering health disparities research and increasing the accrual of women and minorities to Mayo research studies.

Dr. Northfelt also is a professor of medicine.
