The Distinguished Educator Award recognizes senior Mayo Clinic faculty who have demonstrated long-term excellence, leadership and an unusually high level of commitment to learners in educational activities.

Award recipients are recognized for their ability to challenge and inspire their students and colleagues. Distinguished Educator Award recipients are nominated by their peers; however, consistent recognition by students for outstanding teaching is also a critical factor in the selection process. Nominees are reviewed by a selection committee of Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
