Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa, M.D., receives Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service

Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa, M.D. (NS ’16), chair, Department of Neurologic Surgery, Mayo Clinic in Florida, received the Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service in Mexico City, Mexico.

The award honors those who have made the world a better place with constructive dialogue, generous philanthropy and selfless service. Recipients of the Public Service Award share Woodrow Wilson’s steadfast belief in public discourse, scholarship, and extending the benefits of knowledge in the U.S. and around the world. According to the Wilson Center, these individuals have poured their time, talents and resources into improving the lives and futures of others. The Woodrow Wilson Center is based in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Quinones-Hinojosa has joint appointments in the Department of Otolaryngology/Audiology and Molecular Neuroscience at Mayo Clinic in Florida, and leads the Tumor Stem Cell Laboratory. He is a professor of neurology in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. Dr. Quinones-Hinojosa is co-founder and president of the not-for-profit foundation Mission: BRAIN (Bridging Resources and Advancing International Neurosurgery).
