G. Anton Decker, M.D., named president of International at Mayo Clinic

G. Anton Decker, M.D. (TY ’96, I ’99, GI ’03), has been named president of International at Mayo Clinic. He will lead international growth in support of Mayo’s 2030 international strategy. He will be responsible for expanding Mayo’s model of care internationally, growing Mayo’s international reach, and building relationships and securing contracts in prioritized countries.

Dr. Decker returns to Mayo Clinic after seven years — most recently as president of health innovation at Bon Secours Mercy Health, an international health system of 48 hospitals with $8.5 billion in net operating revenue, and 60,000 staff members including 2,500 physicians and advanced-practice providers. He also was chief clinical officer at Mercy Health and president of Mercy Health Physicians. Prior to Mercy Health, he was chief medical officer of Banner Medical Group and chair of the board for Banner Health Network, Banner’s accountable care organization.

Dr. Decker previously held leadership roles at Mayo Clinic including medical director of the pancreas clinic and program director of the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program in Arizona.

Dr. Decker attended medical school at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians in London and has a master of health administration degree from the University of Phoenix, Arizona.
