Michael Wallace, M.D., is chair, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, SSMC, Abu Dhabi

Michael Wallace, M.D. (GI ’03), is now chair of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) in Abu Dhabi, UAE. He will focus on developing the talent pool and expanding specialties within the division.

Dr. Wallace served as chair of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Mayo Clinic in Florida from 2010 to 2013. He is the Fred C. Andersen Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic and director of Digestive Diseases Research Program. Dr. Wallace was recently named a professor of medicine at Khalifa University School of Medicine in Abu Dhabi.

SSMC is a 740-bed hospital established as a joint venture between Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), the largest healthcare network in UAE, and Mayo Clinic. Dr. Maalouf is a professor of Medicine in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
