Guy Fessler Jr., D.D.S. (OMS ’59)

Dr. Guy E. Fessler, Jr. (Ned) 84, of the Meadowood Community, Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2014.
Born on December 1, 1929, he was the son of the late Naomi (Skelly) and Guy E. Fessler, Sr. He was raised in Pottsville, Pennsylvania; Graduated Pottsville High School, Class of 1947; graduated Muhlenberg College, Class of 1950. Fessler graduated from the University of Pennsylvania?s School of Dental Medicine in 1954 with ?distinction? and was elected a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society.
Dr. Fessler received a fellowship appointment to the Mayo Clinic and Mayo Foundation, Rochester Minnesota where he spent four years specializing in the study of Oral Maxillo Facial Surgery.
Dr. Fessler practiced Oral & Maxillo surgery in the Norristown, Lansdale and Trappe for over 40 years in private practice and served at Montgomery, Sacred Heart, and North Penn Hospitals. Dr. Fessler spent eight years teaching in the Department of Oral Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Fessler served in the United States Navy, Washington D.C. and retired from the U. S. Naval reserve with the rank of Commander.
Dr. Fessler was a member of the Norristown Commercial Club, the Plymouth Country Club; and was a member of the Rochester Minnesota Masonic Blue Lodge #21 F. & A.M and a 32 degree member at the Valley of Allentown Consistory. Dr. Fessler was also a member of the Norristown High Twelve and the American Society of Oral Surgeons.
Dr. Fessler is survived by his wife Virginia (Phillips) Liddle-Fessler; his son Guy E. Fessler, III, of Spring City; his step son Robert J. Liddle and his wife Karen of Fort Myers, FL, granddaughter Stephanie Liddle and a cousin George W. Morgan and his wife Abby of Cape Coral, Fl.
Dr. Fessler was predeceased by his daughter Karen E. Fessler.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday January 16, 2014 from 12:30-2:30 PM at the R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home Skippack Pike at Cedars Rd. Skippack. A masonic funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM at the funeral home. A private burial will be the following day at the Cressona Cemetery in Cressona, PA. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607, or to the Pottsville Free Public Library, 215 W.
