Domenick Cover, M.D. (NEPH ’87)

Domenick “Nick” Enzo Cover, MD, beloved Sarasota Physician for over 35 years, passed away on December 22, 2018 surrounded by close friends and family. Born to Enzo and Rosalia Cover in Miami, Florida, Nick grew up spending his time as a child of the sun and sea on Key Biscayne Bay.
After earning his medical degree from Tulane University, Nick remained in New Orleans, Louisiana for his residency in Internal Medicine at Oschner Medical Center, before moving to Minnesota for a fellowship in Nephrology at Mayo Clinic. Following his fellowship, Nick returned to the sea in sunny Sarasota to begin his life-long passion for patient care and medicine.
Nick’s approach to medicine was a reflection of his character. He was widely respected as a scholar, talented diagnostician, and patient advocate, but adored for the love, warmth and dignity he brought to his practice of medicine. He was a humble, supportive, approachable, and encouraging physician who strived to bring out the best of everyone he encountered. Most importantly, he believed in everyone’s right to dignity in all aspects of life.
Nick is survived by his loving wife Teresa and three sons, Geoffrey (Marissa), Christopher, and Michael, parents, Enzo and Rosalia, and brother Michael (Angela), and niece and nephew Julianna and Dylan. Nick was a loving husband, caring father, and a friend to everyone.
The family will be holding a celebration of life ceremony on December 30th, please contact them for additional details. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sarasota Memorial Foundation Nursing Education Fund.
