Roxana Dronca, M.D. (HEMO ’10), appointed to the Florida Biomedical Research Advisory Council, Mayo Clinic Florida

Roxana Dronca, M.D. (HEMO ’10), chair, Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Mayo Clinic in Florida and director of the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center, was appointed to the Florida Biomedical Research Advisory Council. Her appointment runs through July 2026. The council plays an important role in ensuring the best use of the state’s research grants in cancer, tobacco-related diseases and Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Dronca will help develop guidelines to ensure fairness, neutrality and adherence to merit and quality for the state’s grants. She will make recommendations for grants and fellowships and provide oversight for the dissemination of research results. Dr. Dronca’s clinical and research expertise is in the field of advanced skin cancers and advanced genitourinary malignancies. She conducts research in tumor immunology and immunotherapy, as well as cancer care delivery. Dr. Dronca is a professor of oncology in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
