Andrew Meltzer, M.D.

Andrew Meltzer, M.D. (VASS ’18), has been appointed chair of the Department of Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. In 2018, Dr. Meltzer joined Mayo Clinic in Arizona as a senior associate consultant for the Department of Surgery. Since 2019, he has served as chair of Vascular Surgery, and in 2023, he was appointed vice chair of Surgery. Prior to joining Mayo Clinic, Dr. Meltzer held various positions at Weill Cornell Medical College, including attending physician at New York Presbyterian Hospital and consultant for the Hospital for Special Surgery and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. He succeeds David Etzioni, M.D. (CRS ’10), who has served as chair since July 2020. During his tenure, Dr. Etzioni established a new Division of Acute Care Surgery, improved operational efficiencies, oversaw significant growth and the creation of improved service lines, and developed new educational and training programs.
