Ryan Hurt, M.D., Ph.D.

Ryan Hurt, M.D., Ph.D. (GIM ’09), has been appointed chair of the Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Hurt will partner closely with the chair of the Department of Medicine, administrative partners and other divisional and departmental leaders to define and achieve GIM’s overall vision and goals in alignment with Mayo Clinic’s Bold. Forward. strategy and the Department of Medicine’s priorities of seamless workflows, deeper connections, groundbreaking cures and collaborative teamwork. Dr. Hurt succeeds Karthik Ghosh, M.D. (CLRSH ’04), who served as the chair of GIM since 2018 and is now vice president of Mayo Clinic Health System in Minnesota. During her tenure as chair, Dr. Ghosh led GIM’s COVID-19 response and the division’s role in the Midwest COVID Frontline Care Team, oversaw the creation and expansion of multiple clinical practices, and led the launch of the much-anticipated expansion of Executive Health to Gonda 19 with a focus on enhancing the digital experience.
