Ayan Sen, M.D.

Ayan Sen, M.D. (CCM ’13), has been named medical director of Practice Engagement for the Kern Center in Arizona. This is one of four new, site-based Kern Center roles that succeed the Center’s enterprise associate director role previously held by Shannon Dunlay, M.D. (CTSA ’10, CV ’12, TXCV ’13). In this role, Dr. Sen will partner with Maggie Paul, Ph.D. (HCDR ’23), scientific director of the Kern Center in Arizona, to foster strong relationships with site practice leaders and identify and address gaps between site practice needs and Kern Center capabilities and capacity. Dr. Sen is chair of the Department of Critical Care Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Arizona, practicing multi-disciplinary critical care, and is board-certified in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine-Critical Care, Neurocritical Care and Clinical Informatics. He holds the rank of associate professor of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Sen is also chair of the Resuscitation Subcommittee and of the Organ and Tissue Donation Subcommittee, and medical director of the Rapid Response team in Arizona.
