Medical / Research Interests

After leaving the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Achával settled in his native Córdoba (Argentina), where he became a staff member of the Hospital Privado, a tertiary referral center He was appointed as Head of Postgraduate Medical Education, position that he held during 20 years. In 1968 he founded the Section of Vascular Medicine and in 1972 the Vascular Laboratory, that were both the first in Argentina. He worked full time until the end of 2013, when he retired at the age of 80. In 2014 he was installed as a member of Cordoba’s Academy of Medical Sciences, occupying the recently created seat of Vascular Medicine.
