Bio

Dr. Melanie Brown is an Integrative Medicine, Pain and Pediatric Palliative physician and clinical medical ethicist. She is the Program Director of Integrative Medicine at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota and is also Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. She serves on the Executive Board for the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Integrative Medicine and has written a number of articles and international curricula on Integrative Medicine, Integrative Pain Management and Pediatric Palliative Care. Dr. Brown was formerly a basic science researcher who developed a transgenic mouse model of asthma, critical care physician and Medical Director of the Pain, Palliative Care and Integrative Medicine at the University of Chicago where she also served as director of Healer’s Art at the Pritzker School of Medicine. Dr. Brown attended medical school at Mayo Medical School in Rochester, MN and residency in Pediatrics at Children’s Memorial Hospital/Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. She received fellowship training in Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Chicago; Clinical Medical Ethics at the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics; Medical Education through the Medical Education Research, Innovation, Teaching and Scholarship (MERITS) at the University of Chicago and Integrative Medicine at the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine. She also received her Acupuncture training from the Helms Institute and Hypnosis through the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and the National Pediatric Hypnosis Training Institute. She lives in Minnesota with her husband, 2 daughters, 5 pond goldfish and a seemingly infinite number of wild bunnies.
