Adelaide Arruda-Olson, M.D., Ph.D. (I1 ’04, I ’06, CI ’01, CV ’11, CTSA ’11), Division of Preventive Cardiology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, serves on the Expert Advisory Panel of the American Heart Association’s Debiasing Clinical Care Algorithms initiative. This initiative seeks to investigate and elevate the complex issue of how race and ethnicity factor into clinical care algorithms and risk prediction tools in cardiovascular science and medicine. The overarching goal is to continually identify and mitigate structural racism in clinical care, with a focus on clinical decision support tools and practices. Dr. Arruda-Olson is an associate professor of medicine in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
