Aleksey Matveyenko, Ph.D. (PHYS ’14), received a Mayo Clinic Office of Translation to Practice Innovation Accelerator Award

Aleksey Matveyenko, Ph.D. (PHYS ’14), Department of Physiology and Biomedical Engineering at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, received a Mayo Clinic Office of Translation to Practice Innovation Accelerator Award for the project “Identification of Novel Chemical Compositions of Matter That Emulate Beneficial Metabolic Impacts of Cyclic Fasting and Periodic Food Restraint for Management of Type 2 Diabetes.” Innovation Accelerator Awards support projects that aim to develop new technologies with commercialization potential, such as medical devices, diagnostics, therapeutics, small-molecule drug discovery, healthcare IT and other human health innovations, including practice initiatives. The program also seeks to accelerate the maturation of existing high-value opportunities by identifying and resolving technical and commercial risks. Dr. Metveyenko is the J.W. Kieckhefer Professor of Regenerative Medicine to Support Research in Type 1 Diabetes and a professor of physiology in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
