Anand Padmanabhan, M.B.B.S., Ph.D., an associate professor, Mayo Clinic in Rochester

Anand Padmanabhan, M.B.B.S., Ph.D. (HEMP ’20), Division of Hematopathology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, and a Mayo Clinic research team published a research paper in Blood titled, “Off-the-shelf Cryopreserved Platelets for the Detection of HIT and VITT Antibodies.” The paper describes a novel method of HIT functional testing that uses off-the-shelf cryopreserved platelets, an invention that the research teams says can potentially revolutionize HIT laboratory testing and improve the care of HIT patients. Dr. Padmanabhan is an associate professor of laboratory medicine and pathology.
