Atta Behfar, M.D., Ph.D.

Atta Behfar, M.D., Ph.D. (MDPD ’06, MPET ’06, I ’09, CI ’11, CV ’13), Department of Cardiovascular Diseases at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, was named deputy director of translation in the Mayo Clinic Center for Regenerative Medicine.

In this role he will ensure technological and translational readiness and provide oversight of technological platforms, infrastructure and clinical trials to advance new knowledge to clinical applications.

Dr. Behfar directs the Van Cleve Cardiac Regenerative Medicine Program, where his team conducts cardiovascular regeneration research to develop technologies to repair heart tissue. He also serves as medical director for the Advanced Product Incubator, a manufacturing facility designed to accelerate the development and use of novel regenerative products.

Dr. Behar also is an assistant professor of pharmacology and assistant professor of medicine.
