Axel Grothey, M.D., is new chair of Mayo Clinic Arizona Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology

Axel Grothey, M.D. (HEMO ’05), Division of Medical Oncology, Department of Oncology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, is the new chair of the Mayo Clinic in Arizona Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology.

Dr. Grothey succeeds Alan Bryce, M.D. (I ’06, HEMO ’09), who has served as interim chair since July 2017, and Ruben Mesa, M.D. (MED ’95, I ’98, HEMO ’02), who served as division chair from 2010 to 2017.

Dr. Grothey is a professor of oncology in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. He joined the Mayo Clinic staff in 2003.
