Brian Pickering, M.B., B. Ch., awarded Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality grant
Brian Pickering, M.B., B. Ch. (CCMA ’09, CCMI ’10), Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, was awarded a federal grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality for his project “Acute Care Learning Laboratory – Reducing Threats to Diagnostic Fidelity in Critical Illness.”
The support provided by this grant will establish at Mayo Clinic the first in-situ learning laboratory in the country dedicated to the elimination of diagnostic error and delay for patients. The learning laboratory will engage key stakeholders to identify threats to the diagnostic process and guide the design, development, implementation and evaluation of interventions targeting system vulnerabilities.
Dr. Pickering is an associate professor of anesthesiology in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
