Charles Sims III, M.D.

Charles Sims III, M.D. (CCMA ’17), has been named chair of Quality at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, effective Feb. 1. Dr. Sims will report to Sean Dowdy, M.D. (OBG ’01, GYNO ’04), Mayo Clinic’s Chief Value Officer, and partner with Pauline Byom, operations administrator for Quality in Rochester, to lead the development and implementation of the Quality strategic plan, enhance alignment and integration across sites, report quality outcomes to leadership groups, and help the Rochester Quality Subcommittee identify and prioritize resource requests. Dr. Sims succeeds Tad Mabry, M.D. (OR ’05, ORAL ’06), who has held the role of Midwest Quality Chair since 2021, following his tenure as the Midwest Surgical Quality Chair and vice chair of the Surgical and Procedural Committee.
