Cornelia Weyand, M.D., Ph.D. (RHEU ’91), received an award, Mayo Clinic Rochester

Cornelia Weyand, M.D., Ph.D. (RHEU ’91), Division of Rheumatology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, received a 2023 Decentralized Clinical Trials award from the Mayo Clinic Decentralized Clinical Trials team, in partnership with Research and the Clinical Trials Strategy and Governance team. This initiative aims to establish digital products, personnel and processes to support research teams. Dr. Weyand’s project, “Immune Function in Autoimmune Disease,” will assemble a cohort of first-degree relatives of patients with classical autoimmune disease. Implementation of remote biospecimen collection through this award will allow Dr. Weyand to reach first-degree relatives who do not live within a feasible travel distance to a Mayo Clinic site. Dr. Weyand is a professor of immunology and medicine in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
