David O. Warner, M.D., receives Mayo Clinic Abroad – Small Grants Program Award to expand tobacco treatment services at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City

David O. Warner, M.D. (ANES ’87), Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology, Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, and Thulasee Jose, M.D., research fellow in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, received the Mayo Clinic Abroad – Small Grants Program Award to expand tobacco treatment services at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), one of the United Arab Emirates’ largest hospitals for patients with serious or complex medical conditions.

Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), the largest health care network in the UAE and Mayo Clinic recently started a joint venture to operate SSMC. The grant is the first of its kind linking SSME to Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Warner is a professor of anesthesiology in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
