Devang Sanghavi, M.B.B.S., M.D. (CCMI ’16), patient safety officer, Mayo Clinic in Florida

Devang Sanghavi, M.B.B.S., M.D. (CCMI ’16), is the new patient safety officer for Mayo Clinic in Florida, succeeding Jennifer Cowart, M.D. (HIM ’16), who had served in the role for the past five years. Dr. Sanghavi has led many quality and safety-related initiatives within his division and across the Florida campus as medical director of the medical intensive care unit. As Florida’s patient safety officer, Dr. Sanghavi will partner with Dr. Cowart and the quality and patient safety teams at the site level and across the enterprise. He will work in alignment with practice and nursing leaders to focus on safety at all levels and identify opportunities to keep patients and staff safe. He will lead Florida’s Patient Safety Subcommittee and weekly Patient Safety Incident Review Group (PSIRG) and join the enterprise Patient Safety Subcommittee.
