Dr Alex Niven

Dr Niven (Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care-Mayo Rochester) has been selected as the 90th President of CHEST (American College of Chest Physicians). He will serve as CHEST President-Designate in 2026, CHEST President-Elect in 2027, and then CHEST-President from January 1, 2028 to December 31, 2028.

Mayo Clinic has a rich history of significant contributions to the American College of Chest Physicians-CHEST with many Division members carrying on that tradition today. Dr. Niven joins a select group of Mayo physicians who have served as CHEST president. This list includes: Herman Moersch (56-57), Art Olsen (69-70). Matt Divertie (76-77), Ed Rosenow (89-90), Udaya Prakash (02-03), and Clay Cowl (18-19).
