Fergus Couch, Ph.D., receives Outstanding Investigator Award Research Program (R35) grant

Fergus Couch, Ph.D. (PATH ‘97), chair, Division of Experimental Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, received the Outstanding Investigator Award Research Program (R35) grant for his continued excellence in breast cancer research. Funded by the National Institutes of Health and the National Cancer Institute, the R35 award provides $6.7M in funding to Dr. Couch and Mayo Clinic over seven years.

Dr. Couch and his colleagues aim to identify new genetic factors that influence the risk of breast cancer, enhance the application of genetic testing results for risk assessment and management in different populations, and improve the selection of breast cancer therapy for women predisposed to breast cancer.

Dr. Couch is a professor of laboratory medicine and pathology in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
