Gene Siegal, M.D., Ph.D., receives College of American Pathologists Lifetime Achievement Award
Gene Siegal, M.D., Ph.D. (PATH ’79), received a College of American Pathologists (CAP) Lifetime Achievement Award for service to the organization and to the medical specialty that is responsible for the study and diagnosis of disease and oversight of medical laboratories. Dr. Siegal has served the pathology community with contributions to research, education and publications. He has published nine books, served in editorial roles with the CAP’s “Archives of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine” and was a member of the CAP Publications Committee for 10 years.
Dr. Siegal is a professor and executive chair of pathology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s School of Medicine. He also is a member of the board of directors of the Mayo Clinic Alumni Association.
