Hossein Gharib, M.D., receives Endocrine Teaching Award from American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists
Hossein Gharib, M.D. (I ’69, ENDO ’72), Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, Metabolism, & Nutrition, Department of Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, received the 2018 H. Jack Baskin, M.D., Endocrine Teaching Award from the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. The award recognizes his profound impact in teaching medical students and his years serving as dean of the association’s Endocrine University, a weeklong event for third- and fourth-year endocrinology fellows.
Dr. Gharib is widely recognized as an international authority on thyroid disorders. He has published more than 200 papers, lectured at more than 350 national and international endocrine events in 35 countries, and published three endocrine textbooks including “The Thyroid Nodule,” published in 2017. He has received awards and honors including a Master of the American College of Physicians and a Master of the American College of Endocrinology. He is a past president of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, American College of Endocrinology and American Thyroid Association.
Dr. Gharib is a professor of medicine in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
