James Watson, M.D.

James Watson, M.D. (N ’03, NEMG ’04, PAIN ’05), has been appointed to a new role as vice chair of the Midwest Clinical Practice Committee (MWCPC). In this position, Dr. Watson will also serve as a vice chair on the Mayo Clinic Clinical Practice Committee (MCCPC), representing Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He will succeed Michael Brown, M.D. (ANES ’99), who is stepping down from MCCPC but will continue as vice chair of MWCPC and will also continue to oversee Campus Master Planning and other responsibilities for Mayo Clinic in Rochester. As part of his MWCPC vice chair role, Dr. Watson will also be serving as Mayo Clinic’s representative on the Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA) Board of Directors. The MHA board consists of leaders from across Minnesota’s healthcare systems. In addition, Dr. Watson has been named medical director of practice enablement within Mayo Clinic Platform (MCP) as part of MCP’s ongoing and enhanced integration with the Practice. In this role, Dr. Watson will partner with the enterprise dean of practice and MCP’s chief medical officer to define and operationalize approaches for MCP to contribute to the augmentation of the Practice shield of Mayo Clinic.
