Jennifer Westendorf, Ph.D. (IMM ’96), received a Collaborative Research Seed Grant Program, Mayo Clinic Arizona

Jennifer Westendorf, Ph.D. (IMM ’96), chair, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Mayo Clinic, received a 2023 Collaborative Research Seed Grant Program in the Mayo Clinic and Arizona State University Alliance for Health Care for the project “The Use of Itaconate as an Immunometabolite for Improved Bone Repair.” With the goal of advancing research, improving patient care and reshaping medical education, the alliance’s seed grant program provides fertile ground for research on a small scale, with the potential to attract funding for larger studies that can significantly improve patient care. Dr. Westendorf is the Margaret Amini Professor of Orthopedic Regenerative Medicine Research and a professor of orthopedics and biochemistry and molecular biology in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
