Joseph Dearani, M.D., is president, Society of Thoracic Surgeons

Joseph Dearani, M.D. (TS ’96), Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, was elected president of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Dr. Dearani specializes in pediatric and adult congenital heart surgery. He has authored or co-authored more than 550 peer-reviewed journal articles, abstracts and book chapters. The Society of Thoracic Surgeons represents more than 7,500 cardiothoracic surgeons, researchers and allied health professionals worldwide.

Dr. Dearani is a professor in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
