Katherine “Katy” Lydon (BME ’26), a third-year Ph.D. candidate in the Mayo Clinic Graduate School for Biomedical Sciences, won a $5,000 award from the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering in a contest, the Biomedical Engineering Adapted for Middle Schoolers (BEAM) Challenge, aimed at introducing biomedical engineering concepts to middle school students. Her lesson plans for students focused on biomaterials.
