Kristy Weber, M.D., is president of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons
Kristy Weber, M.D. (ORONC ’98), chief of orthopaedic oncology at Penn Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and director of the sarcoma program at the Abramson Cancer Center, is the 87th president of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) — the first woman to hold this position since the academy was founded in 1933.
According to the most recent AAOS census, only 6% of AAOS fellows are women.
Dr. Weber is professor/vice chair of Faculty Affairs at the University of Pennsylvania Department of Orthopaedics and founder of the Kristy Weber Research Program, a collaborative effort between Penn Medicine, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Penn Vet.
