Lyell Jones Jr., M.D.

Lyell Jones Jr., M.D. (I1 ’01, N ’04, NEMG ’05) has been named president and chair of the Mayo Clinic Community Accountable Care Organization (ACO) board, and chief medical officer of Mayo Clinic Community ACO, effective Jan.1, 2025. Dr. Jones will succeed Robert Stroebel, M.D. (MED ’86, I ’92), who plans to retire after dedicating over 30 years to caring for Mayo Clinic patients. Helping physicians deliver high-quality, high-value care has been a core focus of Dr. Jones’ healthcare leadership roles. In his new role, Dr. Jones will partner with Kathy Madden, administrative chair, Mayo Clinic Health System (MCHS) Population Health, and Kristin S. Johnson, operations administrator, ACO and value-based programs. He will report to the Midwest Executive Operations Team and indirectly to the Midwest Clinical Practice Committee, MCHS Executive Operations Team and Midwest Primary Care Executive Committee.
