Mark Ebbert, Ph.D. (NSCI ’16), a research associate at Mayo Clinic in Florida, received a grant from the Florida Department of Health’s Ed and Ethel Moore Alzheimer’s Disease Research Program.
Dr. Ebbert’s team will use next-generation sequencing technologies to identify structural DNA mutations and RNA isoforms that drive the development of Alzheimer’s disease. The research aims to identify potential therapeutic targets among the mutations and to develop a means to diagnose Alzheimer’s by testing cerebral fluid or blood before symptoms occur.
Dr. Ebbert is an assistant professor of neuroscience in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
