Mauricio Villavicencio, M.D., to join Mayo Clinic Department of Cardiovascular Surgery and Transplant Center

Mauricio Villavicencio, M.D. (CS ’05), will join the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery and Transplant Center at Mayo Clinic in Rochester in January 2021. Dr. Villavicencio, a native of Chile, trained in advanced cardiovascular surgery training, cardiopulmonary transplantation and mechanical assist devices at Mayo Clinic, Freeman Hospital in the UK, and Duke University. He practiced cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Chile where he was the director of Thoracic Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support for seven years. More recently, he practiced at Massachusetts General Hospital where he is surgical director of the Lung Transplant Program and director of the ECMO program.
