Mayo’s Dennis Wigle, M.D., Ph.D., received Regenerative Medicine Minnesota 2016 Biobusiness Award
Dennis Wigle, M.D., Ph.D. (TS ’06), chair of the Division of Thoracic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, received a Regenerative Medicine Minnesota 2016 Biobusiness Award for work in developing technology that will allow researchers in the Mayo Clinic Center for Regenerative Medicine Biotrust to use their extensive biobank of cells to test new medications more quickly and effectively. This “disease in a dish” model could help identify new protective or restorative therapies for currently incurable diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Regenerative Medicine Minnesota is a state-sponsored initiative to advance regenerative medicine.
