Natalie Strand, M.D.

Natalie Strand, M.D. (MED ’05, TY ’06, PAIN ’10), has been named the medical director for the Office of Healthcare Equity and Inclusion (OHEI), effective March 1. In this role, Dr. Strand will report to Sean Dowdy, M.D. (OBG ’01, GYNO ’04), Mayo Clinic’s Chief Value Officer, and partner with Vaughn Bartch, operations administrator for Quality and other practice leaders, to achieve the strategic goals of delivering equitable and inclusive care to Mayo Clinic’s patients. OHEI advocates for the availability of supporting systems and resources throughout the enterprise to improve awareness of health inequities and achieve strategic goals. Dr. Strand will also serve as an advocate for patient groups that experience systemic barriers when receiving care at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Strand will succeed Adam Milam, M.D., Ph.D. (ANES ’21), who has served as medical director for OHEI since 2022. Under his guidance, OHEI has made significant strides, including the creation of a comprehensive health equity repository, the development of a health equity dashboard and the implementation of the TruLite health equity platform.
