Olivia Cardenas-Trowers, M.D. (GYN ’22), Department of Medical and Surgical Gynecology at Mayo Clinic in Florida, is a 2023 scholar in the Mayo Clinic NIH K12 Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women’s Health (BIRCWH) Program. Over the past 13 years, the program has demonstrated progress toward the long-term goal of increasing the science workforce of interdisciplinary teams translating scientific discoveries into clinical practice to improve women’s health. Dr. Cardenas-Trowers’ research focuses on the regenerative impact of extracellular vesicles on wound healing for pelvic organ prolapse surgery. She is an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
