Patricia Pellikka, M.D. (MED ’82, I ’86, CV ’89), chair of the Division of Cardiovascular Ultrasound at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, has been appointed vice chair for Academic Advancement and Staff Development in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
Dr. Pellikka has been a consultant at Mayo Clinic since 1992, has held the rank of professor of medicine since 2001 and has published more than 350 peer-reviewed manuscripts. She has master of faculty privileges in Clinical and Translational Sciences. Dr. Pellikka has been president of the American Society of Echocardiography. She has mentored more than 100 students, residents, fellows and staff cardiologists, many of whom have become leaders at Mayo Clinic and at other institutions nationally and internationally.
Dr. Pellikka will develop a team and program to facilitate career development and academic advancement for all cardiovascular medicine physicians and allied health staff; expand the group’s membership program to support participation in Mayo Clinic institutional roles, external professional societies, and educational and research activities; expand infrastructure to engage experienced and senior colleagues in mentorship and help early- and mid-career colleagues identify mentors to leverage talent in the department; and identify and establish mentorship tools to enhance mentorship training.
Dr. Pellikka also is a professor of medicine in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
