Paul Kozak, M.D., receives Arizona Medical Association’s Sportsman Award

Paul Kozak, M.D. (EM ’99), Department of Emergency Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Florida, received the 2019 Arizona Medical Association’s Sportsman Award in recognition of organization, participation in or improvement of safety of athletic activities. Dr. Kozak has spent the past several decades of his career participating in and improving the safety of NASCAR drivers. He has presented research on the impact of the safety belt — head and neck support devices, and steel and foam energy reduction barriers. His research has proven that the two have had an overwhelmingly positive impact on driver safety. Dr. Kozak is an instructor in emergency medicine in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
