Paul Mueller, M.D., is new regional VP, Mayo Clinic Health System SW Wisconsin

Paul Mueller, M.D. (GIM ’95), has been named the new regional vice president for Mayo Clinic Health System in Southwest Wisconsin.

He succeeds Timothy Johnson, M.D. (FM ’88), as regional vice president. Dr. Johnson is returning to patient care, after serving in this role for eight years. He will remain in the position through September.

Dr. Mueller served as chair of the Division of General Internal Medicine for the past nine years at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He is a professor of medicine and biomedical ethics in the  Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.

Dr. Mueller received an undergraduate degree from  at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and received his medical and master of public health degrees from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed internship and residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He joined the Mayo Clinic staff in 1995.

The Mayo Clinic Health System Southwest Wisconsin region includes hospitals in La Crosse and Sparta and  clinic locations in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa (La Crosse, Onalaska, Holmen, Arcadia, Prairie du Chien, Tomah, Sparta, Wisconsin; La Crescent and Caledonia, Minnesota; and Waukon, Iowa).
