Rudolph Houben, M.D., receives Jenifer Jowsey, Ph.D., Award for Excellence in Research by a Research Fellow in Orthopedic Surgery

Rudolph Houben, M.D. (CTSA ’16, MED ’16), Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, received the Jenifer Jowsey, Ph.D., Award for Excellence in Research by a Research Fellow in Orthopedic Surgery from the Department of Orthopedic Surgery on its biennial Patrick J. Kelly, M.D., Research Day in October.

The event honors Dr. Kelly, who started Mayo Clinic’s Histomorphometry Laboratory and Mayo’s Bone Biology Research Program in 1957.

Dr. Houben’s project is entitled “Transplantation of a Vascularized Bone Allograft in a Porcine Tibial Defect Model: Radiographic and Mechanical Outcome.”

Dr. Jowsey was the first Ph.D. scientist in orthopedics at Mayo Clinic and an early collaborator with Dr. Kelly.
