Sean Phelan, Ph.D. (HSR ’13), Department of Health Sciences Research at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, has been awarded two National Institutes of Health grants for health disparities research.
An R21 grant supports a study on the influence of medical school climate and curriculum on graduates’ prosocial attitudes and decision to practice in underserved or racially diverse communities. An R03 grant supports assessing the impact of race, education and other disparities on the quality of patient-provider communication and the effect of introducing a new decision-making tool to the process.
