Sharonne Hayes, M.D., receives 2017 Women in Cardiology Mentoring Award from American Heart Association

Sharonne Hayes, M.D. (I ’86, CV ’87, CV ’90), Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, received the 2017 Women in Cardiology Mentoring Award from the American Heart Association.

Dr. Hayes founded the Mayo Clinic Women’s Heart Clinic in 1998. She was appointed as Mayo Clinic’s first director of diversity and inclusion in 2010. She has published on enhancing professional and personal development and mentorship of women and minority physicians and scientists.

Dr. Hayes is a professor of medicine in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
