Shehzad Niazi, M.D., is Kern Scholar, Mayo Clinic Center for the Science of Health Care Delivery

Shehzad Niazi, M.D. (P ’12), Department of Psychiatry and Psychology, Mayo Clinic in Florida, was named a 2018 Kern Scholar by the Mayo Clinic Robert D. and Patricia E. Kern Center for the Science of Health Care Delivery. His research focus is functional, psychosocial and cognitive outcomes among liver transplant recipients and the impact on their caregivers.

The Kern Scholars Program is available to clinically trained, doctoral-level Mayo Clinic fellows and junior faculty. The program prepares the next generation in health services research, leveraging the disciplines of social sciences including epidemiology, statistics and sociology.

Dr. Niazi also is an assistant professor of psychiatry in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
