Shennen Mao, M.D. (CI ’14, S ’16, SABT ’18), selected for a program, Mayo Clinic Florida

Shennen Mao, M.D. (CI ’14, S ’16, SABT ’18), Division of Transplant Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Florida, was selected for the Convergence Science Program through Innovation Alliances at Mayo Clinic in Florida. The program matches researchers with final-year undergraduate engineering students to advance ideas to practical, usable techniques and products in an early prototype stage. The projects have received an award to fund undergraduate engineering students from the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech for the 2024 spring semester. Dr. Mao is working to develop a multipurpose catheter to streamline and improve outcomes of abdominal normothermic regional perfusion — an organ preservation technique — in organ transplantation. Dr. Mao is an assistant professor of surgery in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
