Sophie Bakri, M.D., is named chair, Department of Ophthalmology, Mayo Clinic in Rochester

Sophie Bakri, M.D. (OPH ’05), Department of Ophthalmology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, has been named chair of the department. Dr. Bakri is director of the Mayo Clinic Medical Retina Fellowship and co-director of the Science of Health Care Delivery Leadership Domain. Dr. Bakri succeeds Sanjay Patel, M.D. (OPH ’99, I1 ’01, OPH ’04), who served in the role of Ophthalmology chair since 2012.

Dr. Bakri is a professor of ophthalmology in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
