Stephen Gleich, M.D., receives Mayo Clinic Karis Award

Stephen Gleich, M.D. (MED ’08, ANES ’14, CCMP ’16), Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, received a Mayo Clinic Karis Award. The Karis Award is bestowed by the Mayo Clinic Values Council to formally recognize exceptional persons who live out the Mayo Clinic values in an extraordinary way.

Comments submitted include:

  • “Dr. Gleich continually treats others with respect whether the patient, family, staff, or peers. He ensures you feel heard and that your concerns, no matter how small, are listened to.”
  • “Recently there was a situation with a newborn baby from a different culture whose faith was of incredible importance to the family. Dr. Gleich sought out the help of chaplain services to understand how best to communicate and understand the cultural and religious perspective of the family. His posture consistently remains one of seeking to understand in order to better serve.”
  •  “Dr. Gleich is a true leader. There is no provider, adult or pediatric, who has a greater skillset than Dr. Gleich and, quite simply, there is no provider who cares as much. He exemplifies every aspect desirous of a Mayo physician.”

Dr. Gleich is an assistant professor of anesthesiology and pediatrics in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
