Sumithra Mandrekar, Ph.D., elected president, Society for Clinical Trials

Sumithra Mandrekar, Ph.D. (HSR ’03), Department of Health Sciences Research at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, was elected president of the Society for Clinical Trials, an international professional organization dedicated to developing and disseminating knowledge about the design, conduct and analysis of government and industry-sponsored clinical trials and related health care research methodologies. Her three-year term (president-elect, president, past-president) will be complete in May 2020.

Dr. Mandrekar heads Cancer Center Statistics at Mayo Clinic and is a group statistician for the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology.

She is a professor of biostatistics and oncology in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
