Thomas Flipse, M.D., is associate medical director, Center for Military Medicine, Mayo Clinic in Florida

Thomas Flipse, M.D. (I ’88, ADGM ’89), Department of Cardiovascular Disease at Mayo Clinic in Florida, has been named associate medical director for the Center for Military Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Florida. Dr. Flipse succeeds Steven Bowers, M.D. (S ’08), who served as the first associate medical director for Florida.

Dr. Bowers has been a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy for 27 years. He is an aviation medical examiner for the Federal Air Association and is a federal air surgeon cardiology consultant. Dr. Flipse will lead efforts to implement innovative programs, tactics and practices that align with the Mayo Clinic Military Medicine Center’s strategic plan supporting research, education and practice for military-related needs. He will represent Mayo Clinic at various Department of Defense, governmental and federal agency meetings to establish and maintain strong on-going relationships with all military branches and raise awareness of the Mayo Clinic Center for Military Medicine.

Dr. Flipse is an assistant professor of medicine in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
